TA to School Sector Development Plan (SSDP) – UNICEF (2015-2017)
The Government of Nepal has implemented the School Sector Reform Plan (SSRP) since 2009, with support from development partners, to enhance access, equity, and quality in school education. The plan aims to restructure the education system into eight years of basic education (grades 1–8) and four years of secondary education (grades 9–12). With the SSRP concluding in 2016, a new School Sector Development Program (SSDP) is being developed to continue these reforms. To facilitate the SSDP, the Government along with established committees and mobilized technical expertise through the Education Sector Program Development Grant (ESPDG) and additional support from SSRP’s development partners ensures sufficient guidance for the development and implementation of the new education plan.
The primary goal of the assignment is to provide technical assistance to create a clear roadmap for SSDP development, emphasizing on improving education access, quality, and equity, which contributes to Nepal’s socio-economic and sustainable development, following a rights-based and inclusive approach to education reform.
