Nepal’s tourism sector, though rich in potential, faces geographic concentration, limited-service segmentation, and gaps in inclusion. To address these challenges, UNDP and NTB launched the Sustainable Tourism Project (STP) for 2025–2027, focusing on Api Basecamp, Manaslu Region, and Kanchenjunga Base Camp. A baseline survey led by NIRT was commissioned to establish reference data for monitoring and evaluation. The study aims to assess tourism activities, visitor profiles, infrastructure, satisfaction levels, economic contributions, and ecosystem challenges. Key deliverables include a gender-, age-, and disability-sensitive dataset, a full baseline report, and an easy-read version, all validated through stakeholder engagement.
